Directions to Stanley, Idaho

For those who are flying into Idaho for the bonspiel, the best place to fly into is Boise. The drive from Boise to Stanley takes approximately 4 hours. We highly recommend the route below which takes I-84 east from Boise to Mountain Home, then east on Highway 20, and then north on Highway 75 through Ketchum (Sun Valley) to Stanley. An alternate route is taking Highway 21 northeast from Boise to Stanley (about 3 hours) but we don't recommend this route because it's extremely curvy between Idaho City and Lowman and it's often closed in the winter because of avalanches. A similar route is taking highway 55 from Boise to Banks then highway 17 to Lowman and then highway 21 to Stanley which is also about 3 hours. The Idaho City (hwy 21) and Banks (hwy 55) routes also tend to have more icy patches on them. You can also fly into Hailey, Idaho, which is 13 miles south of Sun Valley and about a 1.5 hour drive to Stanley (75 miles).

Stanley's Outdoor Ice Rink and S.O.B. Banquet Location

The S.O.B. will take place on Stanley's outdoor ice rink. The ice rink is located just south of downtown Stanley and is within walking (or stumbling) distance of town. Take Wall Street south from downtown Stanley. Wall Street will turn into Airport Road and the ice rink will be on your left. The location of the rink is shown at the blue flag below. Curlers will check in at the Stanley Community Center/Building on Friday from 2pm-4pm. The yellow star in the map below shows the location of the Stanley Community Center. The green house icon shows the location of the Mountain Village Resort Velvet Falls Dance Hall which is where the S.O.B. banquet will take place.
