Registration Lottery
There is a lottery system for SOB registration to provide the fairest means possible for teams to attend.
All teams will be put into a Bingo machine with a corresponding number. Each entry will receive one Bingo ball. A valid entry consists of at least 3 unique curlers on a team. In the Spirit of Curling, please do not try to game the system by entering multiple times for the same team. The committee reserves the right to remove entries if tampering is evident. The committee will select all Bingo balls, forming the list of teams plus a waitlist, in order of selection.
Each team who enters the lottery and is unsuccessful in gaining an entry spot into the S.O.B. will have additional tickets in the hat when entering their next lottery, regardless of whether it is the next year or a future year, thus improving the probability of being selected. Every lottery applicant will receive 2^(n-1) tickets in the hat for each unsuccessful attempt to gain entry where n is the number of years applied. As an example: If a team applies and is unsuccessful in gaining entry two times, they will have four tickets in the hat when entered in the lottery the third year (2^2), eight in fourth year (2^3), 16 in fifth (2^4), 32 in sixth (2^5), etc.
For carryover to future years, there must be at least two attendees that are the same from one year to the next.
